Festive Rent Day – Sunday 8th December

It’s that time of year again – time for Members to pay their rent.  This year Members will also need to sign a new tenancy agreement and terms and conditions as agreed at our Autumn General Meeting on 2 November.

There will also be free festive food for Members to enjoy, and Christmas craft activities for all the family.

Plum chutney, plum jam and honey mustard made from produce grown on site will also be available for sale and would make lovely Christmas presents.

After rent day we will be holding a Christmas wreath making workshop from 3pm to 5pm.

We hope to see our Members on Sunday 8 December.

Brilliant Bonfire Bash!

After a not-so-promising start to the day, it cleared up in time for our Annual Bonfire Night party.   As well as a huge bonfire and fireworks display Members enjoyed pumpkin soup, hotdogs and Jane’s delicious ginger parkin. There was also a leaf-lantern making workshop.

Thank you to everybody who built the bonfire, lit fireworks,  tidied the Clubhouse and prepared food as well as those who donated fireworks.

Earlier in the day we also held our Autumn General Meeting.  We discussed and adopted the new tenancy terms and conditions. These will be issued along with rent renewals in December.  Rent day will be on Sunday 8th December.

Community Spruce – Spring Clean

On Sunday 14 March our members cleaned, tidied and decorated the communal facilities as part of our Community Spruce programme.

The external walls of the toilets were painted (the doors still need to be finished).

The internal walls and ceilings the both toilets were scraped, primed and painted (the floors still need to be painted).

The Clubhouse kitchen cupboards were emptied and the contents sorted.   A professional cleaning company will be along shortly to give the Clubhouse a deep clean ready for upcoming events including our AGM and Open Day.

The communal poly tunnel and greenhouse were cleared and tidied.  Unfortunately a lot of potted plants had to be disposed of because they were infested with vine weevil.

A skip was available for site and members’ use as some plotholders had inherited a lot of rubbish and rubble when taking on their plots.

There was also a litter pick of the site and surroundings.

Thank you to everybody who helped out on the day and to those who have been helping with the site improvements at other times.
